Cutaneous vasculitis
It is a group of disease with underlying blood vessels inflammation. Usually they are related to immune disfunction which give rise to clinical purpura especially over dependent areas. Systemic involvement like kidney involvement may happen in some severe cases.
Usually dermatologists can detect the clinical features but a skin biopsy is usually done to confirm the diagnosis and differentiate different subtypes of cutaneous vasculitis.
Good prognosis is often seen if the disease is only limited to skin, treatment includes topical and systemic corticosteroids. Multi-disciplinary approach is usually needed if there are systemic involvment.
The symptoms of cutaneous vasculitis can vary depending on the type and severity of the condition but commonly include skin rashes, purpura (purple or red spots on the skin), ulcers, and skin discoloration. Treatment for cutaneous vasculitis aims to reduce inflammation and manage symptoms and may include corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and lifestyle modifications. Early diagnosis and treatment can help manage cutaneous vasculitis effectively and prevent complications.
